Do you know what appears at the top of a Google search of your name? You should. And you can control what appears by creating a PR campaign about you and by you. It's pretty simple and the results are amazing. Try these steps set out in Sunday's Charlotte Observer (7/13/08): Andy Beal, founder of Trackur.com, offers the following advice for creating positive news at the top of your Internet personal search.
Create a personal Web site. Try to get your full name in the domain name. Blog. Use free blog sites, like wordpress.com and blogger.com. Use your full name and post often. Create MySpace and Facebook profiles. Pick your full name for the URL. Post photos online. Web sites like Flickr.com allow users to post personal photos and comments. Put your business online. Use sites like LinkedIn.com, a professional networking Web site that allows users to create profiles about their careers.

I have an idea that I want to share and would love to hear feedback from agents, the public, anyone who cares to share! A Preview Exchange Network--a group of local Realtors, dedicated to doing whatever it takes to sell their listings and market them to their full potential. In talking with Realtors from all over the county (and I imagine the Country), I'm hearing that we are all suffering from the same problem--lack of buyers and a very low number of showings. Well, obviously more buyers would be the best option, but that is something we cannot control. It will come with time and before we know it, the buyers will come back and homes will be selling like hotcakes. In the meantime, what's the next best thing to a buyer looking at your home??? How about other Realtors looking at it, becoming familiar with it, and gaining the confidence to show it and look like an expert when that agent finally does have the buyer! So here's my idea: Create a network of dedicated professionals who have a desire to know their inventory and who know the value that knowing their inventory adds to the service they provide their clients. The group will commit to previewing each others properties. Through open houses, scheduled showings, specific "lockbox anytime" dates and times, and any means necessary. Most of us do this within our company, but what a great listing presentation pitch to show your influence with Realtors OUTSIDE of your "safe company"! I signed up for a teleclass hosted by Bea Fields and Pam Gantt today. It was great! Lots of good ideas on marketing and customer service that will step up my game and provide added value to my clients. I am so excited to implement what I have learned. Here's a breakdown: 1. Digital Media--use YouTube or some other method of video messaging to either showcase a home or inform the public of current market trends. 2. R&D Team--select clients to be a part of your research and development team. Contact them quarterly to ask for advice and guidance about your career. What a great idea! Involving my closest friends and clients in my business and making them a part of my success--this will create a desire for them to see me succeed and also allow me to hear feedback on what I am doing right and how I can improve! **This is my favorite idea of the day! 3. Negative Feedback Survey--present a survey with 5 negative questions (ie.e what drives you crazy about real estate agents). Use narrative response questions so that you are not limiting answers and you really get to the bottom of what people are thinking. Bea says people respond more to negative questions, hmmm... 4. Text Messaging--the wave of...now. It's here and people expect you to know how to do it! 5. Blogging---and here I am, so she got through to me. Be personal, be relevant, use hotlinks, 3-5 x/wk., link to Facebook and other sites. 6. Forum--used to bring clients together and involve them in the process. A place to ask you, the expert, questions. 7. Radio Interviews--this one might be more than I can chew right now, but something to think about in the future. Present a pitch that is savvy and interesting to be invited to speak in the media. 8. Use consumer generated media--Facebook, blogging, twitter, podcasting.
